New Build: Renewable & Low Energy Consultation**
Kellys offer a service when it comes to choosing the correct renewable and low energy heating system for your individual needs. Renewable energy is a relatively new field for a large majority of the new build market. For a small fee Kelly’s offer a Renewable & Low Energy Consultation service on the following areas:
- Heat loss calculations: Using the plans of your building we take all measurements, dimensions and volumes in order to calculate the best possible way of reducing heat loss from your building through the fabric (Walls, floor, roof, windows and doors) and through ventilation. From this stage we can now size your heating system and determine ways in which to reduce your heat loss thus increasing the energy efficiency of the building.
- Insulating Advice: After calculating the heat loss of your building, we advice on ways of achieving a better rating through additional insulation to the walls, roof and floor(U-Values). Every new build is different to the next, meaning an individual assessment and proposals for each client.
- Air-tightness: After achieving the heat loss calculations we look at how to achieve a better air tightness rating through various air-tightness measures within the envelope of the building. When a mechanical ventilation system, either positive input ventilation or a heat recovery ventilation system is introduced and replaces the uncontrolled natural ventilation system (trickle vents, brick vents, etc) thus reducing uncontrolled heat loss. The minimum required air-tightness rating for a new build is 0.5 ACH (Air Changes per Hour). By bettering the air-tightness rating of the building to as low as 0.1 ACH in conjunction with a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system, the ventilation heat loss is reduced further.
- Renewable Technologies: Identifying the best possible renewable technology involves considering the location, topography, space restrictions, building type, heat loss, and proposed heating system layout.
- Heating System Layout Design: There are a number of heating system layouts which may be used in a building:
OPTION 1

The boiler will heat the radiators. Solar will be capable of heating the domestic hot water. If solar energy is not available to heat the domestic hot water, then the boiler will be capable of heating the domestic hot water.
OPTION 2

The boiler/ heat pump will heat the underfloor (ground floor) and radiators on the first floor. Solar will be capable of heating the domestic hot water. If solar energy is not available to heat the domestic hot water, then the boiler/ heat pump will be capable of heating the domestic hot water.
OPTION 3

The boiler and solar will work in conjunction using a specialised system to heat the radiators and domestic hot water.
OPTION 4

The boiler/ heat pump, solar and multi fuel stove will work in conjunction using a specialised system to heat the under floor, radiators and domestic hot water.
OPTION 5

The boiler and solar will work in conjunction using a specialised system to heat the under floor and domestic hot water.
Please note that the above options are only used as an example. Kellys Renewable Energy Solutions can recommend and provide you with the most appropriate heating system that meets your requirements. The above systems can work in a pressurised or unpressurised system.
Grant Advice: Kellys Renewable Energy Solutions are registered renewable suppliers for the Low Carbon Building Scheme (LCBS) Phase 1 and Phase 2, as well as the Greener Homes Scheme Phase 3 from Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI). We find the most suitable grant if available and take care of the awkward sections leaving the process hassle free for the client.
**A percentage of the consultation fee is credited to the client if they decide to purchase a set amount of materials form Kelly’s Renewable Energy Solutions.
