Retro Package: Existing Builds

Kelly’s retro package offers a service to determine the energy efficiency of your dwelling and the various ways of improving the energy efficiency if possible. An initial energy performance certificate (EPC) is completed showing the efficiency of the dwelling. After determining the energy efficiency, recommendations can be made for various areas such as insulation (wall & loft), up grading windows, changing to energy efficient lighting, installing a high efficiency boiler, installing a secondary heating system, installing a renewable energy system (solar, biomass, heat pump, etc), and changing the heating controls are among many recommendations.

Kelly’s Renewable Energy Solutions provide products for all of the above categories mentioned as part of the recommendations. If any of the recommendations are met, a second energy performance certificate is completed and a new improved rating is produced for your dwelling. Kelly’s offer a supply and fit service for most products. All installers are fully qualified and accredited, from high efficiency oil and gas boiler installations, biomass boiler installations to solar thermal installations.

Kelly’s Retro Package:

Energy Performance Certificate:

The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is an objective report on the energy efficiency of a property. It provides clear information to any potential purchaser on the energy performance of the property and effective means for improvement.

The EPC is similar to the certificates now provided with domestic appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines. Its purpose is to record how energy-efficient a property is as a building. The certificate will provide a rating of the property from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). The environmental impact rating is a measure of a home's impact on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions - the higher the rating, the less impact it has on the environment. The energy-efficiency rating is a measure of a home's overall efficiency. The higher the rating, the more energy-efficient the home is, and the lower the fuel bills are likely to be. The average property in Northern Ireland is currently in bands D-E for both ratings. In order to improve the property's performance in energy terms, there will be details of simple recommended low-cost measures and long term measures to improve the property's performance rating.

Insulating Advice:

Kelly’s advise on the most effective and efficient form of insulation for your dwelling. The insulation may be mineral wool for the loft (cold roof), cavity wall insulation (beads), polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation or phenolic insulation for the roof (warm roof) and internal wall dry-lining or external insulation for the walls. Kelly’s stock all of the insulations except the cavity fill in which they use one of our registered partners.

Advice on Low Energy Products:

A Low energy product may vary from high efficiency oil/gas condensing boiler to energy efficient lights. Obstacles like budget, space requirements, listed buildings, etc may restrict the choice of low energy product to use. Kelly’s can offer the relevant advice on a complete low energy product package to cater for your needs, from high efficiency boilers, low energy lighting (CFL’s), Thermostatic radiator valves to multi-burning stoves among many.

Renewable Technologies:

Identifying the best possible renewable technology involves considering the location, topography, space restrictions, building type, heat loss, and proposed heating system layout. The renewable technology could be solar panels, biomass boilers and heat pumps.

Grant Advice:

Kellys Renewable Energy Solutions are registered renewable suppliers for the Low Carbon Building Scheme (LCBS) Phase 1 and Phase 2, as well as the Greener Homes Scheme Phase 3 from Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI). We find the most suitable grant if (available), and take care of the awkward sections leaving the process hassle free for the client.
